Angela M. Nolan has a highly successful practice representing Silicon Valley and world-wide high tech clients and serves as Vice President and General Counsel for a San Jose-based internet start-up. She specializes in complex commercial transactions including technology licensing, multi-party development, strategic commercial alliances and commercial transactions (vendor, sales and contract manufacturing). Besides maintaining her active practice, Ms. Nolan serves as Vice President and General Counsel for Momentua, Inc., an internet start-up offering cloud computing, web hosting and managed services in Ruby on Rails. Ms. Nolan leads clients in drafting and negotiating a wide variety of technology licensing transactions, strategic development arrangements, commercial alliances, commercial transactions (licensing, supply, sales, distribution, consulting, professional services, support and contract manufacturing agreements) and M&A integrations. Clients frequently ask her to take charge of negotiations to successful resolve complex issues with large, multi-national companies. Her daily practice includes creating contract templates tailored to enable businesses to focus their agreements on meeting business goals, maximizing efficiencies and reducing overall risk. She advises on a variety of business matters including open source licensing compliance, corporate policies and procedures, ethics statements, warranty procedures and business contract templates.

She has many years of experience at large national law firms and major publicly traded companies. Before successfully opening her own practice in 2007, Ms. Nolan was a member of the legal licensing group at Cisco Systems and served as Assistant General Counsel at LSI. She was a lead attorney on the billion-dollar alliance between Cisco Systems and KPMG. She represented virtually every business unit at Cisco Systems, Inc. including two years as lead attorney for the billion-dollar VoIP business. As Assistant General Counsel at LSI Corporation, Ms. Nolan was responsible for ZSP (digital signal processing cores) and Engenio Systems Storage groups, engaging in a wide variety of core and technology licensing, sales/licensing of systems, vendor agreements for software/hardware and contract manufacturing. Ms. Nolan is also an experienced business litigator, having served in that capacity with national law firms including Spears, Lubersky, Lane Powell in Portland, Oregon and Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro in San Francisco. She also managed litigation for Lockheed Martin Corporation. An acknowledged expert in her fields of practice, Ms. Nolan is a sought after presenter on a wide range of legal issues including open source software, software licensing, contract negotiations, legal liability in contractual transactions and various litigation issues.

Ms. Nolan is a long-time member in good standing of the State Bar of California. She earned her undergraduate degree at Mankato State University in Minnesota and graduated magna cum laude from Willamette University School of Law in Salem, Oregon. Active in her community, she was a member of the Educational Foundation at Castillero Middle school and volunteers regularly at the Harker School attended by her children in San Jose. She lives with her two sons in San Jose, California.
